Homemade Nutella is a delicious and genuine preparation, a homemade version of the famous cocoa and hazelnut spread. Easy and ready in just a few minutes, it is made with hazelnuts, brown sugar, bitter cocoa powder, sunflower seed oil and milk chocolate. Unlike the packaged product, this one doesn't have preservatives, palm oil and it's definitely healthier.

Preparing it at home is really simple: just toast the hazelnuts in a pan, blend them with the brown sugar and then incorporate the seed oil, bitter cocoa and the chocolate, previously melted in a bain-marie. The result is a velvety, dense and irresistibly scented cream, perfect for spreading on fresh bread or toast at breakfast or as a snack together with a cup of hot milk.

You can use it to garnish your pancakes or waffles, even at a Sunday brunch, to fill delicious crepes, but also to make countless of sweet recipes: tarts, biscuits, muffins and much more.

To obtain a cream with an intense aroma, we recommend toasting the hazelnuts in a saucepan or, alternatively, in the oven at 180°C for 10 minutes. Instead of milk chocolate, you can use dark chocolate with at least 70 percent of cocoa. Find out how to make homemade Nutella by following the step-by-step procedure and advice.

Ingredients

Already peeled hazelnuts
200 grams
Unsweetened cocoa powder
10 grams
Brown sugar
60 grams
Milk chocolate
200 grams
Sunflower oil
50 ml

How to Prepare Homemade Nutella

Toast the hazelnuts in a saucepan or pan until they're golden.

Transfer them while still hot into a food processor.

Turn on the mixer and blend the nuts until they start to release their oil.

At this point, add the brown sugar and continue to blend until you obtain a smooth cream.

Transfer the cream into a bowl, add the bitter cocoa powder and mix with a spatula.

Pour in the seed oil.

Melt the chocolate in a bain-marie or in the microwave.

Add it to the cream.

Mix everything vigorously to make it all blend together uniformly.

Pour the Nutella into a glass jar, close with the lid and leave to rest in the refrigerator for approximately 2 hours.

Enjoy your cream spread on bread or use it for your recipes.

How to Store your Homemade Nutella

Homemade Nutella can be stored in the refrigerator, in a glass jar closed with a lid, for a maximum of 5-6 days.
