The Vodka sour is a dry and frozen cocktail, perfect for the summer. It was created as a variant of Whiskey sour, a drink based on Bourbon whiskey, lemon juice and sugar syrup, and born in 19th century thanks to an English barman. However, Vodka sour has a fresher flavor and it is made with vodka, lemon juice, sugar syrup and egg white. Just pay attention to the alcohol content of smooth vodka which is around 40%, so you have to wisely measure all the ingredients.
Pour the egg white, lemon juice, vodka and sugar syrup into the shaker and shake dry, without ice.
Mix vigorously for at least 1 minute. Then add the ice and continue shaking.
Strain into the bowl and serve with a slice of lemon or lime. Serve and enjoy!
– Egg white is an ingredient that gives the Vodka sour creaminess and balance. For the preparation of this cocktail, use only fresh and organic eggs.
– The ice-free shaking will allow the egg white to mount, giving the drink its characteristic foam.
– The Vodka sour must always be filtered to eliminate any residual egg white that is not whipped.
– If you don't like the taste of egg white, you can omit it from the ingredients, but the cocktail will be less creamy.
– To give the vodka sour a softer flavor, you can use peach vodka, blood orange vodka or green apple vodka.
– Vodka sour is a sour-tasting drink, those who prefer can sweeten the edge of the glass with some granulated sugar.
– You can buy ready-made sugar syrup, or prepare it at home with 300 ml of water and 300 ml of sugar. As soon as the sugar is completely dissolved, let it rest in the refrigerator for 2 hours.
