Wondering what to make for dinner tonight? Well, here is your answer! This tasty tuna casserole makes the perfect meal for any day of the week. It is also a great dish to try when you are on a budget as many of the ingredients are low cost and readily available year round at the grocery store. Condensed cream of mushroom soup is mixed with cooked noodles, peas, cheese and, of course, canned tuna. A crunchy bread crumb topping completes this recipe by adding a nice texture to the otherwise smooth dish.

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the peas, cream of mushroom soup, milk, cheddar cheese and tuna. Mix everything well, breaking up the tuna as you stir.
  • Add the black pepper and salt and mix again
  • Cook the egg noodles and drain the water once cooked. Allow to cool slightly.
  • Add the cooked noodles to the tuna mix and stir well. Pour into a casserole dish.
  • In a separate small bowl mix the bread crumbs and melted butter to make a crumb topping. Sprinkle the bread crumbs over the top of the casserole and then place in a 350 ̊F oven and bake for 15-20 minutes or until the bread crumbs begin to turn golden brown.
  • Serve the casserole while hot

Tips

-Instead of using bread crumbs as the topping for the casserole, try crumbled fried French onions. They will add an extra crunch!
-Add sliced mushrooms or carrots to the casserole for a deluxe tuna casserole.
-Cream of celery or cream of chicken condensed milk would also work well for this dish.
