Trump Will Open His Own Pizzeria, Becoming the First President Ever to Do So

Who knows if it's a response to Elon Musk‘s retrofuturistic Tesla Diner, but here we are: Donald Trump opens his first pizzeria and it's a sort of record because no president before him had ever tried his hand at the art of baking. He opens it right there, in the heart of Trump Tower in New York, his center of economic power and the operational headquarters of the Trump Organization. The first rumors arrived via Instagram with an eloquent image: an imposing gas oven, in white marble with gold details, almost a work of art, and a short but significant caption: "Where New York tradition meets Italian craftsmanship – enjoy our wood-fired pizza, exclusive to Trump Tower".

The Birth of Trump Pizza

At the moment, information is scarce. The pizzeria does not yet appear in the list of activities of the Trump Tower, where the Trump Cafe, the Trump Grill, the 45 Wine & Whiskey bar and the Trump Ice Cream Parlor are already located. Emily Sundberg, author of the Substack "Feed Me", revealed a few more details: according to her sources, the pizzeria would be part of a renovation project of the Trump Café, currently closed for work. A plausible hypothesis, which adds a piece to the puzzle. We are curious to know the prices of the product, which are not known at the moment but could be much less expensive than we imagine. In the Trump Tower, you can eat at relatively low prices compared to the luxury and pomp of this skyscraper: salads for around 20 dollars, premium hamburgers for 30 dollars, "normal" ones for less. High prices, sure, but it is located in the center of Manhattan and in one of the most famous and represented skyscrapers in the world.

We don't even know the style of the pizza offered but, at least judging by the Instagram photos, it looks like a normal round toasted pizza. It's not the classic New York style but not even the traditional Italian one. There's definitely the famous pepperoni pizza and you can see a pizza literally with peppers (so both salami and vegetable); in the foreground there's even a white pizza with red spots.

The opening marks a significant moment in American history, making Trump the first U.S. president to own a pizza joint during his term. Trump’s passion for pizza is not new: he previously appeared in a Pizza Hut commercial in 1995 with his ex-wife Ivana, promoting the stuffed crust pizza.
