This recipe takes about 5 minutes to prep, leaving you with minimal cleanup while the chicken cooks in the slow cooker. It’s important to pick high quality chicken for the slow cooker. This recipe requires chicken breasts but you can use chicken thighs and legs as well.
If your crockpot is too small and you have too much chicken, it will take a lot longer to cook. Find a crockpot that is the right size for what you’re making! For this recipe we recommend a 2.5 quart crock pot which is great for 3-6 chicken breasts.
Butter is the secret weapon in this recipe! Using just a tablespoon in this recipe results in tender and juicy chicken. We recommend using butter, but if margarine is what you have on hand, use that!
This may seem like an obvious step, but it can be quite easy to overcook meat in a slow cooker. If you choose to use 3 chicken breasts versus 4, we recommend checking the chicken at the 2.5 hour mark.
