Savory muffins with peas are a delicious and healthy breakfast or snack option for those on the go. These muffins are packed with protein (from the ham), fiber (from the peas), and essential nutrients, making them a perfect addition to your daily diet. The combination of sweet and nutty flavors from the peas, along with savory ingredients like cheese and ham makes these muffins incredibly flavorful. They are easy to make and can be stored in the fridge or freezer for a quick and convenient savory snack on the go. Whether you're looking for a tasty snack or a nutritious breakfast, these savory muffins with peas are sure to satisfy your cravings. They’re also great for lunchboxes too!

Savory Muffin Variations

If you prefer, the peas can be substituted with corn (fresh or frozen, no need to thaw first).

The ham can be substituted with crispy bacon bits.

The cheddar cheese cubes can be substituted with feta.

You can add more veggies to the muffin batter. Grated zucchini and carrot will work well, but make sure to squeeze excess moisture out of the vegetables before using, otherwise the muffin will be too wet.

Other veggies to add include:

  • chopped bell pepper
  • chopped baby spinach
  • sundried tomato pieces
  • fresh basil

Tips

When combining the dry and wet ingredients, stir until just combined. If you overmix the batter, the muffins will be dry.

Using mature cheddar will add more flavor to the savory muffin.

For added flavor, you can also add a bit of chopped chives or scallions.

To make them a tad bit healthier, use half plain flour and half wholewheat flour.

How to Store Savory Muffins

Store the savory muffins in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat them in the microwave or a low-heat oven.

Can You Freeze Savory Muffins with Peas

These savory muffins are perfect for the freezer! Once cooled, wrap the individual muffins with plastic wrap, then transfer them to a plastic bag. Take out as many as you need, and heat them in the microwave.

Can I Make Savory Muffins with Peas in the Airfryer?

Yes, you can. Use individual silicone muffin cups, and bake at 360°F/180°C for 15-20 minutes until a skewer inserted in the center comes out clean.
