The flavor of pizza, with the crunchiness of waffles…sounds good to us! These Pizza Waffles are a great way to enjoy the best of both: it’s like eating a waffle with pizza flavor! And would you believe that you can make this with only four ingredients? Yes, you read that correctly. Four ingredients with a big taste payoff! Grab a pack of crescent dough, mozzarella cheese, salami slices, and pizza sauce, and you’re ready to go.
You can customize the recipe as you want, so make sure to check out our suggestions below. Because these pizza waffles are made by the waffle maker, they’re nice and crispy. Once you take a bite, you will taste why this is one of our new favorite meals.

You can make your own homemade too (use a recipe for pizza dough), but you can easily substitute it with store-bought dough. Canned biscuit dough (Pillsbury or Grands) will also work. Don’t use waffle mix, unless you plan on making separate waffles and make a sandwich with the filling.
To make your own homemade pizza sauce, cook together: 1 can chopped tomato, 1 tbsp olive oil, 2 crushed garlic cloves, 2 tbsp tomato paste, 3 tbsp fresh basil, 2 tsp dried oregano (or 2 tbsp fresh oregano), salt, and pepper to taste. If the sauce is a bit too acidic to your taste, you can add a tsp of sugar.
Toppings that have a high moisture content need to be cooked first. This is especially the case with spinach and mushrooms.
If you don’t like salami, you can also use pepperoni, ham, cooked bacon, or Italian sausage.
If you don’t have mozzarella cheese, use any of the following: cheddar, Swiss, or Monterey Jack.
Other delicious additions include olives, bell peppers, pineapple, sliced mushrooms, smoked chicken, basil pesto, sundried tomato, and fresh herbs.
Make sure to grease your waffle maker properly. If you don’t, the dough may stick and your pizzas will fall apart!
If you’re in a pinch, you can use a panini machine or sandwich maker!
Store the leftover pizza pizzas in an airtight container (in the fridge) for up to 3 days. Reheat them in the oven for 10 minutes at 350°F. You can also warm them in the microwave for 30 seconds. Just note they won’t be as crispy!
