If there is one recipe you should have on ‘speed-dial’, it’s this one. Our Oven Baked Chicken Thighs is a easy enough for a weekday dinners, but delicious enough to eat on weekends too. Chicken thighs are baked until they’re crispy, all while the French fries at the bottom of the tin soaks up the chicken flavor. These bone-in chicken thighs will stay tender and juicy, but you can use boneless cuts too!
Place the chicken thighs on a chopping board (flat-side down) and cut two slits on either side of the bone to flatten them out.

Place the chicken thighs in a bowl and add the salt and pepper, 1 Tbsp masala powder, 1 tsp garlic powder, and 3 Tbsp teriyaki sauce. Mix well.
Divide the chicken into two different bowls. Add 1 Tbsp hot spicy sauce, 1 Tbsp mustard, and 1 Tbsp honey to the one bowl. Mix well.

Place an oven rack over the fries.

Divide the chicken into two different bowls. Add 1 Tbsp hot spicy sauce, 1 Tbsp mustard, and 1 Tbsp honey to the one bowl. Mix well.
Place all the skewers on the oven rack.
Bake at 180°C/350°F for 40 minutes.
Serve!
Use a kitchen thermometer to ensure that the oven baked chicken thighs are cooked properly. If it measures at 165°F/74°C, it’s safe to eat. If it’s below that, the chicken needs to be cooked a little longer.
This recipe will work with chicken wings, and boneless chicken breasts. White this recipe does work with boneless chicken thighs, bone-in meat always delivers more flavor.
Timing depends on your oven and the size of the chicken thighs. Generally, the thighs need to be bake for approximately 40 minutes at 180°C/350°F. Always use your kitchen thermometer to check the internal temperature of the chicken. If you don’t have one, make sure that the juices run clear. Then you know the chicken is cooked (keeping in mind that a thermometer is always more accurate!).
Boneless chicken thighs require less preparation (no flattening needed), and will cook faster than bone-on thighs. Check for doneness after 30 min or so.
Frozen chicken thighs can be cooked directly from the freezer. Place the chicken thighs (no flattening or skewers necessary) on the oven rack and bake 190°C/375°F for 60 min until cooked.
For Oven Baked Chicken Thighs, bone-in chicken always have more flavor than boneless cuts. It does require more work, but it’s worth the effort!
If you make chicken on a regular basis, it’s a good idea to invest in a good quality kitchen thermometer. This way you can make sure your chicken is cooked to a safe internal temperature. Always measure at the thickest part of the meat.
If you cook chicken with the skin on, you can switch on the broiler for the last 5 to 10 minutes. This will create deliciously crispy skin.
The baked chicken thighs can be stored in an airtight container for up to 5 days. You can also freeze them for up to 3 months. Allow the cooked chicken thighs to cool first before storing them in the freezer.
