We all are aware of the ill effects of consuming sugary foods such as candy, soda, and sticky-sweet confectionery. To divulge further on the topic, a new journal published by the AHA (American Heart Association) has reported that people who consume more of the sugary or sweetened beverages are at an increased risk of getting cardiovascular diseases.
This study is special in the sense that it reports no matter the type of drink that is consumed, excessive consumption of sugar is indeed detrimental for our health. This means an overall high intake of sugar from even drink such as coffee or juices is problematic as increased consumption of sugar raises the risk of weight gain, diabetes, heart attack, and stroke.
Further to this, another study reported that replacing one sugary drink per day with an artificially sweetened version may slightly lower the risk of death. But, the consumption of four or more artificially sweetened drinks per day can proportionally increase the risk of death of women.
Other drinks apart from soda that is equally bad for our health are:
Gatorade Starbuck’s
Grande Mocha Frappuccino
Sugary smoothies
This leaves the water to be the best alternative to both quench our thirst and hydrate the body!
