These mini pizzas are perfect for a party appetizer, a tasty snack, or even something for the lunchbox. The recipe makes use of a homemade dough that is packed with flavor. The tomato sauce and mozzarella are all you need to create the perfect mini pizza.
They’re easy to customize as you want, so make sure to check out our yummy tips below! For the dough, you only need a handful of pantry ingredients (flour, yeast, sugar, etc.). Don’t feel like making the dough yourself? Then check out the tips below for a few shortcuts. You will love these cute mini pizzas…and your guests will too!
Flour, yeast, salt, and water – you will need this for the dough. See our tips below for substitutes.
Tomato sauce – use store-bought or make your own (see below for a homemade recipe).
Parmesan – adds a nice cheesy flavor without being too rich.
Herbs – can you even call it a pizza without fresh basil? Feel free to add additional oregano for added flavor.
Start by making your dough. Knead until smooth and leave to rest. Form small balls and flatten them slightly with a small glass.
Top with tomato sauce, and add mozzarella cubes. Bake until golden and the cheese stringy.
These pizzas will cook for about 15-20 minutes in the oven.
You can make them in the Airfryer too! Preheat the Airfryer to 400°F. Cook the pizzas for about 5-7 minutes until they are nice and golden, and fully cooked through.
Don’t want mini pizzas? Use the dough to make regular-sized pizzas.
You can easily substitute the homemade dough with store-bought dough. Canned biscuit dough (Pillsbury or Grands) will work, as will premade pizza bases (look in the frozen food aisle for these).
To make a pizza sauce, cook together: 1 can chopped tomato, 1 tbsp olive oil, 2 crushed garlic cloves, 2 tbsp tomato paste, 3 tbsp fresh basil, 2 tsp dried oregano (or 2 tbsp fresh oregano), salt and pepper to taste. If the sauce is a bit too acidic to your taste, you can add a tsp of sugar.
Serve the mini pizzas with your favorite pizza dipping sauce.
These cute little mini pizzas are made without meat, but feel free to add some for your carnivorous friends: pepperoni, ham, cooked bacon, or Italian sausage will all work.
Make sure to use mozzarella cheese (or any other pizza cheese blend) for a traditional cheesy pizza.
Other delicious additions include olives, bell peppers, pineapple, sliced mushrooms, smoked chicken, basil pesto, sundried tomato, and fresh herbs.
Store the leftover mini pizzas in an airtight container (in the fridge) for up to 3 days.
Reheat them in the Airfryer (to maintain crispiness) for 2 minutes at 350°F or in the oven (using the same temperature) for 5 minutes. You can also warm them in the microwave for 30 seconds. Just note they won’t be as crispy!
