Ingredients

Grand Marnier Liqueur
1 part (1/2 ounce)
Irish Cream Liqueur
1 part (1/2 ounce)
green crème de menthe
1 part (1/2 ounce)

Irish flag shot is a layered, impressive yet super easy drink to make that's perfect to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.

This shot represents the Irish flag as it's made of layers of green crème de menthe on the bottom, white Irish cream in the middle and orange Grand Manier liqueur on top. Each component remains distinct in color, while the flavors are tied together perfectly thanks to the creamy center.

To make a perfect Irish flag shot, make sure to float each alcoholic component like a real bartender. The secret is to pour in order (from the heaviest ingredient to the weaker one) and very slowly the liqueurs in the shot glass with a bar spoon, in this way colors and liquids will not mix.

Although it's a very fun drink to make, don't let the friendly look of the Irish flag shot fool you. This is a recipe that includes three alcoholic components that are not diluted. So get ready to enjoy a shot that is as strong as a single tequila shot with an alcohol content of around 28% ABV.

Irish Flag Shot Variations

Don't switch any of the ingredients as each one has a different specific gravity. Follow our order otherwise the components will mix.

You can try replacing the crème de menthe with DeKuyper Sour Apple Pucker.

For another green alcoholic component, you can use Midori.

You can swap Grand Marnier for Licor 43, but the liqueur will fall a little bit.

If you want to use orange curaçao, follow this order: curaçao, Irish cream liqueur and green Chartreuse. In this way your Irish flag will be upside-down.

How to make Irish Flag Shot

First, pour the green crème de menthe into a shot glass, as it is the heaviest ingredient.

Holding a bar spoon upside down over the drink, and slowly float the Irish cream liqueur over the crème de menthe.

Repeat by floating the orange Grand Marnier liqueur on top of the Irish cream.

Don't stir and serve as it is. Enjoy!
