How to Organize the Perfect Easter Table

Easter is coming, this year it is being organized at your home and you want to make it really special: how to do it? If for Christmas we all know how to make the table beautiful, we are less used to doing it on other holidays. Instead, Easter, in the middle of spring, offers many delicious ideas.

We are used to decorating the house, and especially the table, during the Christmas holidays, but what to do if it is Easter and the big festive lunch is held at your house? Easter is a bit underestimated from a decorative point of view and instead it can give great satisfaction: it is a holiday that falls in the middle of spring with its flowers and its colors and is also full of symbols that can easily become decorations, first of all eggs. Do you want to organize the perfect Easter table? Here are tips, ideas and rules to follow to make the Easter table special.

Easter Table: Decorations (Even DIY)

Making the Easter table beautiful means starting from the decorations: always remember that you must not exaggerate because simplicity is the main rule to follow in all arrangements regardless of the holiday you are celebrating. Starting from this, choose small simple decorations but able to give a touch of color and joy to your table and that obviously recall Easter. First of all you can use eggs and color them using food coloring and collecting them in small bowls scattered along the table, or using them as placeholders, perhaps together with a napkin tied in a way to resemble the ears of a rabbit.

Another cute idea for your guests, but also to make the table more interesting, is to place a glass jar near each guest's place: fill it with small chocolate eggs of different colors, the quintessential symbol of Easter, close with a colored cap and attach a card with the name, so it will not only be a gift but also a place marker.

Make room for Easter-themed cake stands, egg cups, sauce bowls and trays or, more generally, spring-themed ones, which can immediately add a touch of color and cheer to your table, and also for some candles. Who said they can only be used at Christmas? There are candles in beautiful pastel colors and with scents that are a real breath of spring.

The Table's Highlight: The Centerpiece

There is no self-respecting holiday table without a themed centerpiece, the highlight of every arrangement. At Easter there is one rule and only one to follow: use seasonal flowers of many different colors. Is it or isn't it the spring holiday? Choose one or more colorful and scented bouquets and combine them as you like: for example, you can arrange them in glass vases to distribute on the table, or you can collect them all together in a wicker basket, sticking them in the florist's sponge to keep them fresh.

You can also place two smaller bouquets on either side of the table and prepare a DIY Easter-themed centerpiece: a wicker basket filled with decorated eggs for example, or a garland decorated with eggs and bunnies, or even a strip of synthetic grass decorated to resemble a real lawn using eggs, chicks, bunnies and flowers.

How to Set the Easter Table

Once you have decided which decorations you want to use, it is time to set the table. First, choose a color palette that goes well with each other, but also reflects the freshness and liveliness of spring: therefore, plenty of space for whites and creams as a base, to be combined with pastel shades of colors such as pink, light green, light blue and yellow. A good idea would be to choose a neutral-colored tablecloth, embellish it with an Easter-themed central runner and then "build" the rest by choosing colored plates, glasses and napkins.

Don't overdo it with prints and, if you really can't do without them, choose an element that has them, for example napkins decorated with little flowers. As for the positioning of plates, cutlery and glasses, the general rules dictated by etiquette apply, but in this case instead of the usual services choose colored objects, again in different pastel colors or different shades of the color you have chosen as the theme for the table, even the cutlery: there are beautiful ones with colored handles and decorated with many patterns.

What About Desserts? How Should I Serve Them?

When serving Easter desserts at the holiday table, presentation and timing are key to making the experience special. Typically, desserts should be served after the main meal, allowing guests to enjoy their savory dishes first. For a festive touch, arrange desserts on platters with vibrant colors, such as pastel icing, fresh flowers, or Easter-themed decorations like chocolate eggs or bunnies. It’s also a nice touch to offer a variety of options, like a rich carrot cake, fruit tarts, or a light lemon meringue pie, ensuring there’s something for every taste. Always remember to serve the desserts at room temperature, if possible, to highlight their full flavor, and don’t forget the coffee or tea to accompany them. Finally, it's a lovely gesture to allow guests to help themselves, fostering a relaxed and communal atmosphere.
