Panaché is a slightly alcoholic cocktail made of beer and soda, a recipe originated in France and which recalls the more famous Radler of German origin. It is a refreshing drink and it is very well known, in fact it is called bicicletta (bicycle) in Italy.

Panaché Origins

Panache is simply a mixture of lager and soda or other sparkling drink, yet its flavor is as extraordinary as its history. It seems that Panache derives from Radler, a cocktail born in the 20s in Germany by an owner who did not know what to prepare for hundreds of cyclists, so he decided to "dilute" the beer with a carbonated soft drink. The result was a success and today you can find Panache and Radler even on the counters of supermarkets. Here there are some tips to make an excellent panache to serve to your friends for a fresh aperitif and some delicious variations.

How to make Panaché

Choose the beer, we recommend a light and low alcohol beer, a blonde Lager or a Weiss will be fine, pour it into the mug for 2/3.

Add your soft drink that can be a soda or lemonade and add the remaining 1/3.

For a perfect Panache, the only requirement is that the beer and soda must be chilled, so stir and serve immediately.

Tips

The best way to enjoy a good panache is to serve it as a drink for a fresh and tasty appetizer: prepare croquetas with béchamel and ham or simple puff pastry pizzas. Success is guaranteed!

Panaché Variations

If the recipe for panache includes beer and soda, you should also know that your imagination has no limits: you can try to add some coca cola or chinotto if you love sweeter cocktails or dare with orange juice or tonic water if you like more bitter flavors.
