Homemade Nutella is a spreadable cream made with milk, dark chocolate, butter and white sugar, easy to make at home and perfect to spread on bread, toasted bread or to be used as a filling for pies or biscuits. To make a good quality homemade Nutella, you have to start from good quality ingredients. I therefore recommend buying good dark chocolate 70%, high quality whole milk and good hazelnuts. The sugar I used is the white one, but you can easily use the whole cane sugar.
Put the sugar in a blender and reduce it to powder. You will then get the confectioner’s sugar that will blend with the other ingredients and will allow you to obtain a smooth and soft cream.
Put the hazelnuts on a baking sheet and cook them in preheated oven at 120 degrees for ten minutes, moving them a little after the first five minutes.
After toasting the hazelnuts, use a cloth to rub them and free them from the skin.
Add them to the confectioner’s sugar and continue to chop until the mixture is transformed into a soft paste.
Dice the dark chocolate and add it to the mixture.
Add butter and milk and blend.
When you have obtained a homogeneous and hard mixture, transfer it into a saucepan and cook it over medium-low heat, stirring constantly for about ten minutes and making it thicken.
Put the Nutella still warm in sterilized glass jars and close the lid. When it is cold, put it in the fridge.
Homemade Nutella is ready to be spread on bread.
Do not be surprised if the mixture becomes very creamy, it is normal, with the heat of the mixer the chocolate will melt and this will facilitate the blending of all the ingredients.
Homemade Nutella can be preserved in the fridge for about a week, so be careful to prepare only the dose that you think you can consume in this period of time.
