Homemade banana liqueur is a creamy and delicious homemade liqueur prepared with milk, cream, sugar and pure alcohol at 95%. Also known as bananino in Italian, it is a great idea to use ripe bananas and turn them into a delicious liqueur with a soft texture. Once ready, serve it to guests as a digestif; you can also make it as a welcome gift idea for relatives and friends. So let’s see how to prepare banana liqueur at home. Keep it in the freezer to always have it fresh and ready to taste.
Peel the bananas and cut them into slices. Put them in a sterilized glass jar and add the alcohol.
Cover with cling film and leave to macerate for 10 days in a dark place. Shake the jar from time to time.
After the necessary time, take a colander and filter the liquid. Keep only the flavored liquid.
Put the cream, milk and sugar in a saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat, letting it simmer for about 5 minutes.
Let the cream mixture cool and add it to the banana flavored alcohol. Mix your creamy liqueur well.
Let it rest in the refrigerator or freezer for at least a month before enjoying it.
To make this liqueur, use ripe bananas, but not too black. You can enhance the color of the banana liqueur by adding a sachet of saffron or with food coloring, but these are optional ingredients.
You can also flavor the banana with half a vanilla bean. Add the seeds to the saucepan with cream, milk and sugar.
If you love homemade creamy liqueurs, also try creamy limoncello, to be served as a digestif or as a cool drink, or creamy hazelnut liqueur, delicious and ideal for a sweet break.
You can store the banana liqueur in the refrigerator or freezer for about 6 months; the alcohol and sugar will perform the function of natural preservatives.
