Disney Publicly Shares Beignets Recipe Inspired By Mickey Mouse – And We Love!

Walt Disney is known for many animation films, and Mickey Mouse is one of their most famous. This character is very symbolic and has been the inspiration for several pastries served at some of Disney's parks across the country. Since people can't eat any of them anymore now that the pandemic has caused the parks' closure, Disney has shared the recipe for Mickey mouse beignets so that fans can still enjoy the delicious snacks in the comfort of their homes.

Disney gave fans a heartwarming surprise when they shared the step by step guide to preparing one of their iconic snacks, mickey mouse beignets.

This is not the first time Disney will be sharing their recipes to help fans stay busy at home. They formerly shared the recipe for their churros, dole whip, and French toast.

The beignets may, however, be our most favorite yet. It is easy to prepare, and the product is a delightfully soft and yet filling snack.

It'll be especially fun to make with the kids!

Ingredients for the beignets include:

  • 1/2 teaspoon dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water (approx. 105°)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • Two tablespoons vegetable shortening
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • One large egg4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup boiling waterVegetable oil (for frying)
  • Powdered sugar

To prepare:

1. Make the dough

In a bowl of warm water, pour in the required amount of yeast and stir. Let the mixture sit for five minutes. Meanwhile, combine sugar, shortening, salt, heavy cream, egg, flour and boiling water in a large bowl.

Then, stir in yeast mixture and mix the dough (with or without a mixer). Afterward, let the dough rest for half an hour.

2. Mold the dough into Mickey Mouse shapes

Sprinkle flour over a flat surface or platform where you can comfortably roll the door. Roll the dough to about 1/4-inch thickness and cut individual beignets with a Mickey Mouse-shaped cutter or any other shape you prefer.

Cover the beignets with cling film or a towel and let the dough rise for 1 to 1-1/2 hours.

3. Fry the beignets

After rising, the beignets are ready to deep fry! Heat an adequate amount of vegetable oil to 350° F in a deep pot over medium-high heat.

Fry beignets until golden brown, about 2 to 3 minutes on each side. Remove and place on paper towels to drain.

To serve, sprinkle powdered sugar over the warm beignets. Enjoy!
