Deep-fried meatballs are a popular and easy to prepare second course, made with eggs, breadcrumbs, flour and minced meat. When they asked me to create a recipe that would please even those children who suffer of lack of appetite, the first thing I thought was: and what do I know about this kind of children? But then, I remembered. I remembered when my mother had to chase me all over the house to make me have lunch and dinner and that all this lasted for twelve years. I know a lot of children who don’t like to eat, because I was one of them, and the only thing that made me sit on the table, fork in hand, with a thirty-two teeth smile, were the breaded meats. Just like meatballs. Then, here to you a dish tested on children who suffer of lack of appetite, because I tested it myself many years ago: deep-fried meatballs. It is simple minced meat mixed with bread, milk, olives, and then shaped like a small walnut and then passed into the ingredients trio that I use for each breading: flour, egg and breadcrumbs. The deep-fried meatballs are served hot and they will appeal to adults and children, also because they are excellent if accompanied with sauces such as mayonnaise, ketchup and – for the adult ones – the barbecue sauce. As for the choice of the meat there are no limitations, you can choose between chicken, beef and pork, or mix the three types, the taste will not be affected, indeed!
There is not a unique recipe to prepare deep-fried meatballs, there can be many ingredients according to personal taste.
