They are so incredibly delicious that you could choose to serve them on their own at an aperitivo or a buffet, paired with some mayonnaise or other dips.
You’ll only need 5 minutes to create this mouthwatering snack: wash and dice an onion, fry in oil and there you have it! You can use it to garnish your dishes or to add that crunchiness to some creamy dishes, like a soup or a risotto.
We have used white or yellow onions, but if you prefer a stronger taste you can use red onions.

In the meantime, heat the oil in a deep frying pan. Check the temperature with a thermometer: it should reach 175°C / 350°F. If you do not have a kitchen thermometer you can also immerse a wooden toothpick in the oil: if bubbles appear on it, the oil will be ready. Fry the onions until golden brown, stirring every now and again to provide crunchiness.

Drain the onions and let cool on kitchen paper, to remove the excess oil. Do not cover with kitchen paper, to preserve the crunchiness. You can add some coarse salt if you like.
