Crispy chickpeas: the recipe for making them tasty and light at home

Crispy chickpeas are a delicious and tasty snack, perfect for a tasty appetizer or to be consumed at any time of the day as a light, vegan, and protein snack. This is a quick and easy preparation: just drain the already-cooked chickpeas thoroughly, pat them dry with kitchen paper and then season them with a spoonful of flour, paprika and a pinch of salt and pepper.

The chickpeas are finally cooked in the oven for about 30 minutes until they are crispy and golden. Flavored with sprigs of fresh rosemary and served piping hot in fried paper packets, they are ready to be munched one after the other in all their goodness. You can also enjoy them cold, but be careful because they are addictive.

You can use smoked paprika, sweet or spicy, depending on the final taste you want to obtain, and add the aromatic herbs you prefer. You can replace the paprika with a sweet curry and the flour with cornstarch or potato starch. If you prefer, you can cook dried chickpeas instead of using canned ones.

Ingredients

cooked or drained chickpeas
400 g
Paprika

Pepper

Flour

How to prepare crispy chickpeas

Drain the chickpeas from the conservation water.

Transfer the chickpeas to a plate, lined with absorbent kitchen paper.

Gently pat the chickpeas dry with a sheet of absorbent paper.

Transfer the chickpeas to a large bowl.

Add the flour.

Flavor with ground mixed pepper and add a pinch of salt.

Add the paprika and mix thoroughly.

Pour the chickpeas into a well-oiled baking tray.

Distribute the chickpeas evenly, not too tightly and so that they do not overlap to ensure even cooking. Bake at 200°C in a fan oven for about 30 minutes, taking care to shake the pan after 15 minutes of cooking.

Remove the chickpeas from the oven, flavor them with sprigs of fresh rosemary and serve them in a paper cone for fried foods.

How to store them

Crispy chickpeas are excellent eaten freshly baked and hot, but they can also be eaten cold by keeping them in an airtight container for 2 days.
