What is Coquito?

Coquito is Puerto Rican coconut eggnog that is usually enjoyed during the winter. Its name means “little coconut” in Spanish. It's a thick, rich, creamy drink with a sweet coconut flavor and warming spices.

Coquito Ingredients

Unlike regular eggnog, you don't need eggs to make coquito. You'll need coconut milk and cream of coconut to give this tasty beverage its characteristic coconut flavor and creamy texture.

Coquito gets its sweetness from condensed milk, and you'll also need nutmeg, cinnamon, raisins, and vanilla to flavor the drink.

The best rum to use for coquito is dark rum. It has a sweet, rich, complex flavor that works well with the other ingredients in this drink.

How to Make Coquito

Making delicious coquito is so effortless. start by placing the raisins, rum, and cinnamon sticks in a very large container. Leave them for an hour to infuse. Next, puree the remaining ingredients in a blender until they're nice and smooth. Pour the pureed mixture into the rum mixture, then tightly seal and refrigerate for at least 4 hours.

The longer you leave the coquito, the more intense the flavors will become. Serve your coquito cold, and don't forget to shake it well before pouring it into glasses!
