Listen up coffee lovers! If you haven’t tasted coffee whipped cream, then get ready to send you taste buds on a trip to coffee paradise! In Italy, they call it crema di caffè, and it’s usually eaten it with a spoon in the summer. It’s creamy and easy to make, and if you’re looking to impress your coffee lover friends, this dessert recipe is definitely it!
To make it, you simply whip the cream until peaks form, then mix it with espresso. Top with cocoa powder and choc chips and enjoy! Just a warning though, you will want another glass and won’t be able to stop at one!
Whipping cream – use full-fat whipping cream.
Coffee – use string espresso. You can also use decaffeinated coffee for this recipe if you prefer.
Sugar – use powdered sugar (not granulated sugar).
Prepare the whipping cream by beating it in a clean mixing bowl until stiff peaks form. Use a stand mixer or an electrical whisk. To prepare the coffee, whisk powdered sugar into hot coffee and stir until dissolved. Set aside in the fridge to cool.
Once cooled, fold the coffee into the cream. Spoon the mixture into a glass, then sprinkle with chocolate chips and cocoa powder. You can also sprinkle it with instant coffee granules.
If you don’t have espresso, you can use any strong coffee. Instant coffee will also work, as long as it’s strong.
To finish off the Coffee Whipped Cream, sprinkle with chocolate chips, cocoa powder, chocolate cake sprinkles, desiccated coconut, or cookie crumbs.
The coffee must be cold when you add it to the whipped cream. To make the coffee, add the sugar to hot coffee and stir to dissolve it, then leave it to cool.
Don’t have an electric mixer? You can still make this recipe! Simply add the ingredients (everything must be cold!) to a clean bottle (glass or plastic) and shake the bottle for about 2 – 3 minutes until the mixture thickens.
The Coffee Whipped Cream is quite thick, so serve it with a spoon. Alternatively, serve it with your favorite cookies and use it as dippers.
The Coffee Cream should be stored in the fridge and can be kept for up to 4 days. It shouldn’t be stored in the freezer, as the cream will separate.
