Chocolate Stick Ingredients

Flour – use all-purpose flour.

Sugar – use granulated sugar.

Butter – use salted or unsalted butter; if using unsalted butter, add a pinch of salt to the recipe.

Baking powder – make sure to use baking powder and not baking soda.

Chocolate – use milk chocolate.

How To Make Chocolate Sticks

Start by making the dough for the sticks. Beat together the sugar and eggs, then add the remaining ingredients to form a smooth dough.

Divide the dough, and roll into thin logs. Slice the logs into sticks, place them on a baking sheet and bake. Dip the baked sticks into melted chocolate and refrigerate until the chocolate is set.

Tips

If you like the combination of chocolate and mint, add mint extract to the dough, and sprinkle the dipped chocolate sticks with crushed peppermint candies.

Want more texture? Sprinkle the dipped chocolate sticks with crushed nuts before refrigerating.

Vary the sweetness by using a different type of chocolate. For added sweetness, use white chocolate. If you want to make it less sweet, use dark chocolate.

Make the recipe gluten-free by using gluten-free flour.

Try any one of these delicious combinations:

  • Dark chocolate dip and orange zest sprinkle
  • White chocolate dip and freeze-dried raspberry
  • Milk chocolate and rainbow sprinkles
  • White chocolate and sweetened coconut
  • Dark chocolate and sesame seeds.

Other sprinkles you can use:

  • Crushed cookies (try Oreos or vanilla wafers)
  • Freeze-dried berries
  • Unsweetened, toasted coconut
  • Crushed hazelnuts
  • A drizzle of peanut butter
  • A drizzle of caramel.
