Cheese sauce is a very easy and quick dipping sauces to make at home in no time. Creamy, smooth and delicious, this homemade recipe is a kid favorite as it is so richer and tastier than the store-bought. Use cream and your favorite melting cheeses such as cheddar or Emmental to make a flavorful sauce you can serve in several different ways. The secret of this tasty sauce lies in the cheese choice. You can pick your favorite melting cheese or choose it according to your side. Gruyere, Brie, Emmental and Cheddar are the best options, otherwise, use mozzarella, Monterey Jack, Swiss cheese or Velveeta. If you love strong flavors, you can try goat cheese or blue cheese.
If you pick Brie cheese, it's best to use it whole and without the rind to avoid lumps.
Making the cheese sauce easier than you may think. Start by cutting the cheese into cubes, then pour the cream in a saucepan over medium heat. When the cream boils, add the cheese mix, salt and pepper. Low the heat and go on stirring until melted. You can also add a little bit of Brandy before seasoning.
If your cheese sauce turns out too thin, you can add more cheese to thicken it. By adding an extra dose, the cheese sauce will be thick, creamy and even more savory.
Otherwise, you can add a little bit of cornstarch and water while the sauce is still hot, but be careful with the amount because the sauce may heat up too much making the cheese separate.
