This is a perfect high protein preparation that you all may savor for a quick breakfast or a snack! And, to my surprise, this dish turned out so easy to prepare yet absolutely fantastic. My twist, I added just about half a tablespoon of powdered white sugar to the chicken filling.
I am not sure about all your taste buds but I relished a hint of sweetness in every bite. Which is why I have not mentioned regarding the same in the recipe but you may try it out if you like your food very mildly spiced. However, if you enjoy a fair bit of spice then you may consider adding about half a teaspoon more of the pepper (cayenne or black) to the chicken filling.
So, eventually you have to customize this, otherwise an extremely versatile dish, as per your taste preferences
Place the chicken breast in a non stick pan and rub a tablespoon of olive oil, half a teaspoon of salt and black pepper powder evenly over it. Now, heat the pan and cook the chicken on medium heat until it turns brown on both sides and no more pink at the center.
Remove the chicken from the pan and place it on to another plate. Let it cool and then shred it nicely. Add the cream cheese to a bowl and beat it well until the cheese is smooth in consistency. Add the minced garlic and shredded cooked chicken to the cheese and mix everything well. Preheat the oven to 175 degrees C and prepare a baking tray by lining it with aluminum foil.
Now, lightly flour a clean work surface and place the four crescent rolled triangles on it. Add 1 tablespoon of the filling mixture at the center of all the triangles and roll the dough over from the short side while pressing the sides to seal the ends.
Slightly curve the ends of the crescent roll and place them on the prepared baking tray. Bake the puffs for about 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown on top. Serve hot and enjoy!
Make sure you beat the cream cheese smooth enough to get creamy and lump free consistency. You may use an egg wash over the rolls before you transfer them in to the preheated oven to get a nice glaze on top of the puffs. Maintain the baking temperature and you might need to keep a watch in the final minutes of baking.
