The Gardener Gin was created meticulously and infused with the essence of the French Riviera. It is slated to make its debut at this years’ Cannes Film Festival which will take place between May 16 and May 27 at the just renovated Carlton Hotel.

According to reports, the gin was made from wheat in copper stills and the botanicals include pink grapefruit, lemon, liquorice, angelica, coriander as well as bitter orange from Cap d’Antibes.

The ultimate goal while creating the gin was to make “the ultimate London Dry Gin” by putting together the purity of flavor and elegance made possible by the great quality outfits and fresh citrus fruits.

Brad Pitt has been in the drinks trade for quite some years now. He was introduced to this world after he and his then-wife Angelina Jolie bought Chateau Miraval for a whopping $67 million in 2011.

The trade happened thanks to help from a mutual friend who introduced the pair to the Perrin family. The clan had been long-term owners of Chateau de Beaucastel in  Châteauneuf-du-Pape, and have been producing Château Miraval’s popular rosé wines for a long time.

The couple have gotten divorced and has been fighting a legal battle over who gets to keep the vineyard however the actor continues to work closely with the Perrins. They partnered up last year to launch a skincare range created with active ingredients harvested from the vineyard.

It was also with the Perrins that Pitt created the plan to launch a gin that would capture the essence of the French Riviera. To help, they enlisted Nichol, who retired from his role at Tanqueray in 2015 after four decades, to manage production.

It is the most high-profile venture Nichol has ever been involved in. The Gardener, which is an organic gin, is reportedly designed to “translate the terroir” of the French Riviera. The launch comes shortly after actress Emma Watson and her brother, Alex, launched their own gin, Renais.

It was created with grape skins and lees, some of which were gathered from the family’s Domaine Watson in Chablis.

The Gardener will be presented at Cannes where the attendees will be offered a cocktail known as “Secret Garden.” It includes gin, lemon juice, orange juice, strawberry syrup and egg white.

It was created by Nichol and Bartenders at the Carlton Hotel which just reopened its door after its  €350m renovation. The gin will be distributed worldwide. It will be available in the UK from Hune and in the US from September.
