If you love ribs, then you’ll love this boneless BBQ Rib Sandwich. And if you were wondering, yes, it’s better than the one at Subway. It’s easy to make and is perfect if you’re making sandwiches for a large crowd.
Smoked, boneless ribs are added to a buttery, soft bun. Add caramelized onions, and you have a keeper. Unlike most rib sandwiches that make use of store-bought boneless ribs, this recipe uses homemade smoky ribs.
It’s easy to customize the recipe as you want. Use your own rub, a store-bought BBQ sauce, or add your favorite sandwich ingredients! Tender inside and crispy outside, everyone will love it!
You can cut down on cooking time by precooking the ribs in an InstantPot or pressure cooker, and then finishing off with the glaze in the oven. Rub the ribs with the seasoning, and place them in the InstantPot. Add ½ cup water and pressure cook on HIGH for 15 minutes. Allow to naturally release steam for about 10 minutes. You can now grill the ribs with the BBQ sauce until sticky.
You can easily add any of your favorite sandwich ingredients. Here are a few of our favorite toppings:
Apple and fennel slaw
Iceberg lettuce and blue cheese dressing
Cranberry sauce
Dill pickles and ketchup
Caramelized onions and Swiss cheese
Creamy coleslaw
Grilled mushrooms
Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days. If you want to make it ahead of time, you can cook and debone the ribs the day before.
Cook the caramelized onions and keep both in the fridge. You can also butter the buns and keep them in an airtight container at room temperature.
