If you haven’t tried the keto diet yet, then these Bacon Avocado Burger Bombs might just be the dish that gets you started! Made with high-fat, protein-packed ingredients, this recipe is both filling and delicious—and perfect for a keto or low carb diet. The recipe is easy to make, and you only need four basic ingredients.
Creamy avocado filled with gooey cheese, wrapped in beefy ground meat, and covered with crispy bacon… what’s not to love? They’re made on the grill too. So get your avocados ready, fire up the grill, and enjoy these low-carb burger bombs.
Bacon – to make sure the bacon gets nice and crispy, use thin strips of bacon.
Ground beef – you can use any type of ground meat, but beef really works well with this recipe.
Avocado – small or medium avocados will work best, if you can only find large avocados, you might want to use only one half.
Cheese – use cheese that will melt well; mozzarella, cheddar, Swiss or gruyere will all work well. You can also use grated cheese instead of cubes.
Barbecue sauce – use any sauce you like! (If you like more spice, you can add a few dashes of hot sauce!)
These burger bombs look complicated, but it’s super easy to make. Simply slice your avocados in half (making sure not to break up the avocado halves), Fill the avocado halves with cheese (cubes or grated), and place the halves on top of each other again. Wrap the avocados with the ground beef and add a few strips of bacon.
Grill until the bacon starts to cook, then brush with barbecue sauce. Cook until the safe internal temperature is reached.
Don’t have a grill? You can make these in the Airfryer too! Simply place the wrapped avocados in the Airfryer basket (make sure there is enough space between the burger bombs to allow air to circulate) and bake at 400°F for 6-8 minutes.
Try a different variation by mixing finely chopped onion and jalapeños with the ground beef.
Instead of cheese, place a soft-boiled egg in the avocado halve, and continue with the recipe as stated.
Like sushi? Make filled avocado with prawn meat, chopped Nori sheets, and pickled ginger.
Treat these Bacon Wrapped Avocado Burger Bombs as you would any burger. Serve with pickles, mustard, and keto-friendly ketchup. You can even make it a proper burger and add crunchy lettuce and sliced tomatoes! Missing the fries? Serve them with zucchini fries, or jicama fries and keep it keto!
