Avocados are rich in nutrients and are considered a source of vitamins C, E, K, and B6. That’s why we decided to pack all those nutrients into a creamy, satisfying pasta dish. Avocado carbonara is an easy pasta recipe, a variant of classic carbonara. Like a typical carbonara, it includes egg, parmesan, and pasta. But we swapped some of the heavy cream with yummy, healthy avocado.

The secret to this pasta is definitely the avocado, it adds richness to this pasta, so much you will think a whole cup of cream went into it! So get your avocadoes, eggs, lemon, parmesan, bacon, spaghetti, and olive oil ready, and make this delicious dish today!

How To Make Avocado Carbonara

Make your sauce. Place the avocado, egg yolk, garlic, lemon juice, and heavy cream in a blender and pulse until smooth. Prepare the bacon by frying it over medium heat until crispy. Drain off the fat and place the bacon on a piece of towel paper.

Cook the spaghetti in a large pot according to your package directions. Drain and add olive oil. Mix in the blended sauce, together with parmesan and seasoning.

Tips

Make this dish vegan by omitting the bacon, and leaving out the cream. Add cashew butter to the avocado sauce to make it creamy.

To make it meatier, add other meats: smoked salmon, roasted and shredded chicken breast, pancetta, or smoked turkey.

Make it healthier by omitting the bacon and adding more veggies. This pasta will go great with baby spinach, shelled peas, sautéed mushrooms, corn, peppers, broccoli, or even butternut squash.

Use another pasta shape if you want if you don’t like spaghetti. Some of our favorites include fusilli, bowties, macaroni, linguine, fettuccine, and rotini, macaroni. You can also use chickpea pasta, quinoa pasta, or any gluten-free pasta.

Don’t omit the lemon. It’s necessary to keep the avocado from going brown. It will also ensure that leftovers don’t go brown.

If you want to make this grain-free and gluten-free, skip the pasta, and use zucchini noodles instead.

For extra flavor, add a spoon of Thai curry paste or basil pesto to the avocado sauce.

Add a few spoons of yogurt to the blended avocado sauce for extra creaminess.

If you love avocado, feel free to add extra avocado chunks to the pasta.
