Airfryer Donuts Variations

Don’t feel like sugared donuts, but want classic glazed donuts instead? Whip up your own glaze by whisking together 2 cups powdered sugar, 1/3 cup melted butter, 4 Tbsp boiling water, and 1 tsp vanilla extract. Dip the cooled donuts into the hot glaze and allow to cool.

Add any decorations like sprinkles, coconut, or nuts soon after glazing and before the icing sets.

  • Orange Icing: Replace the vanilla orange juice and add 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of finely grated orange zest.
  • Lemon Icing: Replace the vanilla with fresh lemon juice and 1/2 teaspoon of finely grated lemon zest. Add 1/2 teaspoon of lemon extract, if desired.
  • Almond Icing: Replace half of the vanilla extract with almond extract and top with slivered almonds.
  • Maple Icing: Replace the vanilla extract with maple extract.
  • Cinnamon Icing: Add 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon to the icing.
  • Coconut Icing: Replace the vanilla extract with coconut extract and top with shredded, sweetened coconut.TipsKeep the small donut circles aside and cook them separately in the Airfryer. For a classic donut shape, roll out the dough to ½ inch thickness, cut the outer circle with a 3-inch cookie cutter, then use a 1-inch cookie cutter for the center. Alternatively, you can use a large drinking glass and a small shot glass.
